The Reference Link area

   Below we have a list of sites that deal with a variety of science and technology related topics, all of which we have found to be very helpful as well as interesting. These are also great sites to use as sources if you are writing a paper or so doing something that requires references. Basically if you are a person who is at all interested in my site and the content I discuss then these are all sites you should check out. This list will grow as I find new websites that I deem as relevant. So if you are into this type of information, then stop by every once and a while to see what we have added. All the links here are organized by topic.

 

Science In General-

-BBC News/Science This is the Science section of the BBC's website. As you may well know the BBC is a great place to get your news. I find it to be much more informative then American news.

-Current Science The world is changing as the human knowledge base expands. New discoveries are made every day, all over the world. It can be hard to keep up with all the scientific news when there is no single site that really delivers the entire picture of what has happened in the world of science on any given day. Here we have a list of news feeds from a variety of the top scientific news sites that will help you keep up. If anything scientific has happened, you can read about it here.

-FORA.tv  Fora is a site that offers streaming videos of leaders in science, economics, technology, business, and politics, giving talks or readings. Is an interesting site, very much like TED.com

-Horizon "The Technology Source was a peer-reviewed bimonthly periodical whose purpose was to provide thoughtful, illuminating articles that would assist educators as they face the challenge of integrating information technology tools into teaching and into managing educational organizations" This Web site maintains all of the articles originally published in The Technology Source."

-New Scientist This site publishes articles on current events related to the subjects of: Space, Technology, Environment, Health, Physics/Math and Science in Society. New Scientist is also a well known, credible magazine that covers those same topics.

-Nova Online This is the official site for PBS's TV show, Nova. If you have ever seen nova you know how cool and interesting it can be.  (I personally like the BBC's Horizon more) Nova of course, has information that covers just about every category of science.

-Physorg.com "Science : Physics : Tech : Nano : News" -enough said

-PLoS ONE "Publishing Science, Accelerating Research" Plos One has a Huge directory of published scientific articles that cover a Huge verity of subjects. If there is something you are looking for, you will find it here. This is a Great site for finding references.

-TED.com "Ideas worth spreading" This site features videos taken from the TED conference held every year in California. There are tons and tons of videos here, of speeches given by the best and most hard working minds in the world.

-Total Blog Directory A blog site directory about science.

-Science.gov "We have selected science websites by topic" A directory featuring all science/technology related sites organized by topic.

-Science Blogs  Science Blogs has 72 different blogs that cover a very wide range of topics. I haven't had much time to look into this site to much, but it looks pretty interesting. My guess is that if you like thinkersbebo you will probably like a lot of what Science Blogs has to offer.

- Science Daily "your source for the latest research news" This site reposts the latest science headlines from around the world.

-Science Friday This is NPR's Science Friday website. This is a great website. If you want to get up to date with what is going on in the world of science and technology this is the place to go. I also recommend listening to Science Friday on NPR, on you guessed it, Fridays. Hosted by Ira Flatow.

- Sciencemag.org The online version of Science Magazine.

-Science News  "Science News: the weekly magazine of The Society for Science and the Public." This site is pretty much self explanatory. They cover all the mainstream scientific topics going today. They also have and area dedicated to "Science News for Kids." I recommend this site for anyone how a general interest in today's science.

 

Energy - alternative Energy Related

-alternative-energy-news.info This site is an open source for news and information about renewable energy technologies.

-Ecological Society of America   The official ESA website. "The Ecological Society of America (ESA) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of scientists founded in 1915 to: promote ecological science by improving communication among ecologists; raise the public's level of awareness of the importance of ecological science; increase the resources available for the conduct of ecological science; and ensure the appropriate use of ecological science in environmental decision making by enhancing communication between the ecological community and policy-makers."

- Calculate your Impact Personal Earth Impact Calculator. This site shows you how much of the world's resources you are using up in your daily life based on the information you enter, thus calculating your impact on our planet Earth. I must say, the results can be a little disturbing.

-Energy Information Administration The official energy statistics from the US government.

International Energy Agency This is the IEA's official website. "The International Energy Agency is an intergovernmental organization which acts as energy policy advisor to 28 member countries in their effort to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for their citizens."

-Make your own Biodiesel This site teaches you how to make your own biodiesel. Very, very, cheap fuel. Consider running your truck on 89 cents a gallon. I guess it's not that much to convert your engine over either. There is no reason not to do this. I currently drive a car but I am considering buying a diesel truck just to do this. I'm completely serious

-National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium "The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) is a pioneer and a national leader in promoting programs and activities that desire to cure America’s addiction to oil and lead to energy independence and the greater use of cleaner transportation."

-Renewable Energy sources Complete notes on renewable energy sources like solar power, wind and other renewable energies. Learn how photovoltaic cells works and types of cells. Also read the working of all non-renewable energies. It is all about energy.

-Solar Home.org If your are at all interested in purchasing an alternative energy generator this is the place to look.

-U.S. Environmental Protection Agency This is the EPA's official website.
